Man charged after more than $36,000 worth of drugs seized during traffic stop

We have charged a man with drug trafficking offences after locating and seizing more than $36,000 in drugs during a traffic stop.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, an officer on patrol in the area near the Chinook LRT station observed a 2003 Toyota 4Runner with an obscured licence plate. After initiating a traffic stop, the officer observed the driver throw an item out of the window.

The discarded item was collected and identified as a white shipping bag. Upon inspection, 250.6 grams of suspected cocaine, with an approximate street value of $25,060, was located inside.

The driver was arrested, and both he and his vehicle were searched. We further located 112.5 grams of suspected fentanyl in the vehicle, with an approximate street value of $11,270.

Leslie Ross SZENTMIKLOSSY, 50, has been charged with one count of possession of opioids for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026.
