Man charged after drug trafficking investigation

We have charged one man after more than $6,000 worth of drugs were seized from a residence in northeast Calgary.

In late October, we began investigating reports of possible firearms and drug activity at a Bridgeland residence.

On Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, investigators executed a search warrant in the 400 block of Second Avenue N.E.

As a result, the following items were seized:

  • 31.2 grams of pink fentanyl
  • 3.8 grams of brown fentanyl
  • 11.9 grams of methamphetamine
  • Scales
  • Four BB guns
  • Brass knuckles
  • More than 100 different styles and sizes of knives and swords
  • A hand grenade that was later determined to be non-functioning
  • 15 bicycles, including electric bicycles

Jarrett Ryan OAKES, 41, has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon and one count of breach of a prohibition order.

OAKES will next appear in court on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022. Police continue to follow up on leads related to the bicycles that were located in the residence in hopes of returning them to their rightful owners.
