Man arrested in relation to AHS injunction

This evening, police arrested a man found to be in violation of a Court of Queen’s Bench Order obtained by Alberta Health Services that applies to gatherings held in contravention of the public health orders.

Kevin J. Johnston has been arrested with attending an illegal public gathering in contravention of the May 6, 2021 Court of Queen’s Bench Order.

This order imposes compliance with public health restrictions on organizers of events, including masking, physical distancing and attendance limits.

CPS enforced this order as it related to an illegal public gathering that took place on the morning of Saturday, May 15, 2021. We are balancing our enforcement approach, but have determined that this morning’s gathering contravenes the Order and has been classified as an illegal public gathering.

We are at a critical point in our province’s response to the pandemic and citizens must comply with public health orders in order to ensure everyone's safety and well-being.

We continue to ask those who may be considering organizing or participating in any outdoor events to ensure they are familiar with public health order requirements and to do their part to prevent further spread of the virus.
