Life-threatening collision investigation continues

Update: The 17-year-old female involved in this collision has passed away. The investigation remains ongoing. 

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a collision that occurred earlier this week.

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at approximately 3:38 a.m., a 2025 Volkswagen SE was being driven north along 26 Street S.E. near 25 Avenue S.E.

It is believed the Volkswagen collided with a parked, unoccupied 2007 GMC Savana, forcing the GMC to strike a parked 2017 Mazda 3, which was also unoccupied.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 17-year-old girl, sustained critical, life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

Speed is being investigated as a factor of the collision.
