Investigators seek dashcam footage following fatal shooting

Our Homicide Unit continues to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred yesterday evening in southeast Calgary and is looking to the public to help identify suspects.

Around 7:10 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, police were called to the 200 block of 28 Street S.E., for reports that a man was found seriously injured. The man was declared deceased on scene. We have no reports of anyone else being injured in the incident.

Investigators believe that the suspect(s) likely fled in a vehicle onto eastbound or westbound Memorial Drive following the incident. Anyone who has dashcam footage from eastbound or westbound Memorial Drive, between Deerfoot Trail and 36 Street, from around 7 p.m., yesterday, Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, is asked to contact police.

No further information will be shared about the victim until the completion of an autopsy, which has been scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021.

“While it is still early in this investigation, we believe that this was a targeted attack,” says Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the CPS Homicide Unit. “We continue to comb through evidence and CCTV from the scene, and are looking for the public’s help to collect potentially relevant dashcam footage.”
