Investigation ongoing in undetermined death

Our Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the death of a man who was found inside a northwest garage over the weekend. While detectives await further medical tests and results, the death is being considered undetermined.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, we were called to the 6100 block of Thornaby Way N.W., for a report that a 26-year-old man was found deceased in a detached garage.

An autopsy was conducted this morning, Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, however, further medical testing is required to determine both the cause and manner of death. As such, the man’s identity will not be publicly released at this time, however, investigators have been in contact with the victim’s family.

Our investigators have pieced together the events leading up to the man’s death, and it is believed that he had been in the garage for several days prior to the discovery of his body. The homeowners who found the man are not connected to his death and he is unknown to them.
