Injury collision on Memorial Drive
The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating following a serious injury collision that occurred last night on Memorial Drive.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, a pickup truck driven by a man was travelling westbound along Memorial Drive when it rear-ended a car stopped at the red light at the intersection with 28 Street S.E.
The car, which was carrying three passengers in addition to the driver, rotated clockwise and came to rest on the northeast corner median of the intersection. The rear driver-side passenger, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital in critical condition. The remaining occupants received minor injuries.
The driver of the truck was uninjured in the collision and was arrested at the scene for impaired driving. Charges have not yet been laid and the investigation continues. Excess speed is not considered a factor in the collision.
