Information sought in suspected arson

Investigators are hoping to identify a man believed to be connected to the suspected arson of a downtown business.

Shortly after 4 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, a fire broke out in a basement crawl space in a business in the 200 block of 10 Avenue S.W. A review of CCTV in the area has shown a man walking westbound in the alley just prior to the fire, carrying a flaming stick.

The man is described as thin and average height. He was wearing a dark green toque, jeans, a black jacket with a grey sweater underneath, and had a red bandana tied around his neck. He was wearing a black, Speedo backpack with “Calgary Patriots” embroidered on it, and hauling a grey carry-on size luggage.
