Information sought in southeast stolen vehicle incident

We are asking for the public’s help to advance an investigation into a stolen vehicle incident involving a child that occurred in the city’s deep south.

At approximately 8:50 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, we were called to a residence in the 100 block of McKerrell Gardens S.E. for reports of a stolen vehicle with a nine-year-old child inside. The vehicle, a red 2004 Saturn Vue, was left running in the driveway while the child’s father briefly entered the home. While inside, an unknown woman entered the vehicle and drove away with the child still inside.

A short time later, the vehicle and child were located in the 0-100 block of Sun Harbour Road S.E. The child was unharmed during the incident.

After abandoning the vehicle with the child inside, the suspect fled in another vehicle being driven by an individual believed to be known to the suspect. The suspect remains at large.

Investigators are seeking dashcam footage from between 8:45 and 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, that may show a red 2004 Red Saturn Vue SUV travelling westbound on Stoney Trail S.E., from Lake McKenzie to Sundance, and then travelling northbound on Sun Valley Boulevard S.E.

As the investigation is in the early stages, no additional details are available at this time.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information about this incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
