Information sought in southeast pedestrian hit-and-run collision

We are asking for the public's help to identify a vehicle and driver connected to a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian in a wheelchair that occurred in the community of Shawnessy.

At about 1:55 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, a man was struck by a vehicle while using a crosswalk along 162nd Avenue S.E. near Burger King, located at #100 85 Shawville Blvd. S.E. The impact caused the man's wheelchair to tip onto the ground, and he was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a maroon or dark-coloured SUV, did not remain at the scene or report the incident to police. The vehicle was seen leaving the scene, travelling westbound on 162nd Avenue S.E.

Investigators are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, the driver of the vehicle, or anyone who has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision to come forward to help advance the investigation.
