Information sought in road rage assault investigation
Police are asking for the public’s help to identify an unknown man and vehicle involved in a road rage assault incident last week in the city’s deep south.
On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., investigators believe a family was travelling in a blue-green 2022 Ford Maverick pick-up truck on westbound Stoney Trail S.W., near TsuuT'ina Trail S.W. At the time, they discovered they were being tailgated by a man driving a 2021 or newer model black Nissan Pathfinder SUV with dark-tinted windows and black rims.
The driver of the truck pulled over in the area of Stoney Trail S.W. and 162nd Avenue S.W., hoping the SUV would pass by. Instead, the man parked behind the truck and exited his vehicle. The driver of the truck also exited his vehicle, and shortly after, an altercation ensued.
Another motorist witnessed the altercation and stopped to assist, at which time both men retreated to their vehicles. When the victim drove away, the suspect continued to follow him, at which time he called 911 to report the incident.
The victim drove to a fast-food restaurant located in the 300 block of Shawville Boulevard S.E., to await police arrival. The Pathfinder was last seen travelling northbound on Everstone Drive S.W.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage from the following areas and times on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, to contact police:
- Westbound Stoney Trail S.W. near TsuuT'ina Trail S.W. between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m.
- Stoney Trail S.W. at 162nd Avenue S.W. to Everstone Drive S.W. between 3:30 and 4 p.m.
The male suspect is described as approximately 40 to 50 years old, 6’5” tall, with an olive complexion, slim build, short salt and pepper hair, and a beard. He was wearing business attire, including a suit vest.
