Information sought in dump truck arsons
Arson investigators are turning to the public for information related to several dump trucks that were ignited earlier this year.
On Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at approximately 1 p.m., culprits entered a storage yard in the 7500 block of 36 Street N.E., and proceeded to set fire to three commercial dump trucks which had been parked for the winter.
The trucks were completely consumed by the fire and the heat was so intense that a fourth truck parked nearby sustained exterior damage. The total financial loss is believed to be in excess of $150,000 and has severely burdened the small business owners who are now trying to manage the loss ahead of the upcoming construction season.
We are asking anyone who might have witnessed suspicious vehicles or people in the area at the time to contact police. Anyone who might have CCTV footage that we have not yet spoken to is also asked to contact police.
