Information sought in dangerous driving and altercation incident
We are seeking dashcam footage and information from the public as part of an ongoing investigation into a dangerous driving and altercation incident that occurred in the city’s deep south late last month.
Investigators believe that on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a silver 2013 Chrysler 200, driven by a man with a woman as a passenger, was travelling north on Highway 2A / Macleod Trail S.E. from Okotoks into Calgary. The vehicle was reportedly being driven erratically and at extreme rates of speed.
At approximately 11:50 a.m., we received reports of a man and woman engaged in a verbal altercation outside the vehicle on the shoulder of northbound Macleod Trail S.E. near Stoney Trail S.E. Motorists who witnessed the altercation stopped to assist and contacted police. Before officers arrived, the man and woman left the scene in the vehicle.
Officers subsequently attended the residence of the registered owner of the vehicle and spoke with the individuals believed to be involved. As a result, a 23-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with:
- One count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- One count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
As the incident is believed to be domestic in nature, no further identifying information, including the name of the accused, will be released to protect the identity of the victim.
