Information sought after $43,000 spending spree using stolen wallet

We are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect connected to a wallet theft that led to more than $43,000 in unauthorized transactions.

On Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, between 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., it is believed that an unknown suspect stole a man’s wallet while he was having lunch near the 200 block of Barclay Parade S.W.

Investigators believe the victim had briefly placed his jacket on the back of his chair when the suspect approached from behind and removed the wallet from the jacket pocket.

The victim did not realize his wallet had been taken until after the suspect left the area.

Shortly after leaving the restaurant, the suspect is believed to have made multiple fraudulent online purchases using the stolen cards.

Soon afterward, the victim received several phone calls from individuals posing as employees of the Royal Bank of Canada’s Fraud Department who were attempting to obtain additional personal and financial information.

The suspect is described as a man in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5’11” to 6’ tall, with a medium build and a short beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hooded jacket, grey Nike sweatpants, white shoes and a black baseball cap.
