Infant sudden death investigation

We are currently investigating after the sudden death of a nine-month-old girl that occurred last week.

Police were called at approximately 7:15 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, after a nine-month-old girl was found unresponsive inside a residence located in the 0 to 100 block of Falshire Place N.E. Upon arrival, patrol officers provided a police escort to hospital for EMS and the infant, however sadly, she was pronounced deceased upon arrival at hospital.

At this time, the death is considered suspicious and The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will begin an autopsy today, Monday, Jan. 31, 2022. However, due to specialized medical testing that must be done following infant deaths, infant autopsies often take several months to complete. For this reason, the name of the infant will not be released until both the autopsy and additional medical testing have been completed.

Investigators have spoken with several family members over the weekend and are continuing to speak with witnesses.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time.
