Indecent act in front of minor leads to charges

A Calgary man has been charged following indecent acts at a northeast residence that occurred in front of a child.

Around 3:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 3, 2022, a woman and her 10-year-old daughter were walking to school in the 200 block of 33 Avenue N.E., when they allegedly saw a man standing naked in a house in front of a window, committing an indecent act while staring at the woman’s daughter. The woman reported the incident to police as there had allegedly been another occasion earlier in the week as well.

Following an investigation, the Calgary Police Service District 3 General Investigations Unit (GIU) arrested a man in the northwest community of Hamptons on Sunday, April 10, 2022.

David Louis MAYHEW, 66, has been charged with one count of exposure to a minor and one count of exposure in public view. He will next appear in court on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

“Indecent acts deeply affect victims, and young children should never be exposed to such activity. These are criminal acts that are thoroughly investigated, and we will lay charges whenever possible to ensure people know this type of behaviour is highly inappropriate and in fact criminal in nature,” says GIU Acting Staff Sgt. Amy Kennedy.
