In-custody death
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has been called to investigate the death of a man following an interaction with first responders.
At approximately 6 a.m., on Monday, April 6, 2020, paramedics were called to the 2400 block of Erlton Road S.W., to assist a man who was believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis. The man became combative with paramedics and police were called to assist. As the man was taken into custody, he experienced a medical crisis. Paramedics assisted and transported the man to hospital where he was later declared deceased.
This has been deemed an in-custody death and ASIRT will maintain carriage of the investigation. No further information is available.
