Identity of assailants sought in stabbing at SAIT LRT

Thanks to the comprehensive Calgary Transit CCTV system, investigators have located images of several people believed to have been involved in the stabbing of a man at SAIT LRT earlier this week and are seeking assistance from the public to identify them.

Just before 5:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, police were called to the SAIT C-Train station for reports of a man in medical distress. The man was taken to hospital with significant injuries. Investigators have determined that a group of six men assaulted the victim in a stairwell connecting the Jubilee Auditorium and the SAIT C-Train station, located in the 1400 block of 14 Avenue N.W. The assault ended when one of the assailants stabbed the victim, and the suspects fled the scene on foot in various directions.

The victim made his way up the stairs to the C-Train platform where he utilized the emergency help button to call for help. Emergency services arrived and the victim was transported to hospital in serious condition. He was later upgraded to stable condition and remains in hospital.

It is not yet known whether the victim knew the assailants or if this was a random attack.

CCTV images of the suspects are being released in hopes of identifying them and are available on The City of Calgary's Newsroom.
