Housefire in Lynnwood
On April 19th, 2025 at approximately 12:35AM the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to a 911 call for a house fire in the southeast community of Lynnwood. Responding crews could see smoke from several blocks out. On arrival at the 100 block of Lynnwood Crescent firefighters were met by the residents and found a single story, detached single family home with large amounts of smoke and flame presenting in the rear of the house.
Fire was spreading quickly from a large outside deck to the rear of the house, a detached garage and a large tree. On scene crews struck a second alarm due to the volume of fire and proximity to other homes. Firefighters immediately deployed multiple hose lines to bring the fire quickly under control, and teams entered the home, garage and adjacent homes to ensure all occupants were safe and accounted for. All residents safely self-evacuated while crews dealt with the fire. There were no injuries reported at the scene.
Fire spread in the property of origin was extensive and damage to the home was significant. EMS and Calgary Police were on scene as well as assistance with isolation of utilities from ATCO and ENMAX. Fire crews will remain on site through the night and likely into the morning. Investigators are currently at the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
