Hoop it up Sept. 10 at Century Gardens community basketball event

Century GardensJoin the City of Calgary and our partners Sport Calgary and the Calgary Surge on Sunday, Sept. 10 to celebrate the new Century Gardens basketball tri courts. This free, family-friendly celebration features 3-on-3 basketball games, live music and entertainment, and live artists.

“We’re excited to welcome Calgarians down to Century Gardens to explore the beautiful new basketball courts,” said Sheryl McMullen, Manager, Investment & Marketing for The City’s Downtown Strategy. “We believe that a thriving downtown is the heartbeat of our city, and by investing in great community spaces, like Century Gardens, we are helping to build a stronger, more connected and resilient downtown for residents and visitors to enjoy.”

Three-on-three basketball games will run throughout the afternoon, with the first 20 players to sign up scoring a complimentary basketball. Between games there will be dance performances from Pulse Studios and Hip Hop Beats. Lo.cal artists Contemporary Vice and Moey Blanco will be on-site to transform attendees’ basketballs into pieces of art.

The event is taking place at Century Gardens (826 8 Street S.W.) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you are interested in getting in on the 3-on-3 basketball, sign-up will kick-off at 11 a.m.
