Homicide Victim Identified

The Calgary Police Service is investigating the fatal shooting of a man in the community of Monterey Park.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, police responded to reports of a shooting in an alley in the 100 block of Del Ray Road N.E. When they arrived they found a man in medical distress. He died at the scene.

An autopsy completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the man died as a result of the shooting. He has been identified as Hussein MERHI, 26, of Calgary.

Investigators believe MERHI met up with at least one person in the alley, and at some point during the meeting an altercation occurred and the victim was killed.

A dark SUV was seen fleeing the area after the shooting.

There is no indication this homicide is linked to any others in the city.
