Homicide Unit investigating northwest house fire

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Arson Unit, is investigating a house fire in the city’s northwest that left two people dead.

While details remain limited, investigators believe the fire was not accidental and that this incident is domestic related. A suspect is not being sought at this time.

Emergency crews arrived on scene on Saturday, May 25, 2019, around 2 p.m., after calls from neighbours regarding an explosion and fire in the 0-100 block of Kincora Drive N.W. Upon arrival, two people were found deceased, while a third had suffered injuries.

Alberta Health Services EMS transported a female to hospital in serious potentially life-threatening condition with fire-related injuries.

The Calgary Fire Department conducted a thorough search of the home and no additional victims were located.

The CPS will update the situation as details become available, however, it’s unlikely further information will be released until the completion of the autopsies, scheduled for Monday, May 27, 2019.
