Green Line releases RFP for 78th Avenue Project

The Green Line Board has approved the release of the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 78 Avenue S.E. Grade Separation and Ogden Pedestrian Tunnel Project (“78th Avenue Project”). This significant construction project will complete a grade separation structure and pedestrian tunnel under the railway corridor.

In cooperation with Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), the 78th Avenue Project will enhance transportation safety in the vicinity of the future Green Line Ogden Station. The contract for the 78th Avenue Project is anticipated to be awarded in Q2 2023 with work starting in Summer 2023.

“CP operates approximately 26 trains per day on their main line, creating risk and complexity as we construct the alignment around the future Ogden station area. By advancing the 78th Avenue Project, we can reduce project and schedule risk while taking another step forward in delivering Green Line for Calgarians,” said Darshpreet Bhatti, Green Line CEO.

As Green Line progresses through the procurement process to select a team to design, build and construct the LRT, additional opportunities to advance Green Line construction, reduce project risk and support local job creation continue to be prioritized. In addition to the 78th Avenue Project, additional work packages for local contractors are anticipated in 2023.

Construction of any nature can be disruptive, and the Green Line team is committed to working with the Ogden community to mitigate impacts, as best as possible. Public information sessions will be held prior to construction beginning in Summer 2023 to provide information for residents.
