Good Samaritans track senior's assailants

Last week two Good Samaritans tracked a man and woman who robbed a senior of her purse, assaulting her in the process. While we spoke with one of the witnesses, we are looking for the other and are sharing CCTV images of the assailants in an effort to identify them.

Just before 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, a woman in her 70s was waiting to cross eastbound at the intersection of 37 Street and Bow Trail S.W., when an unknown man and woman approached her from behind. The man allegedly grabbed the senior and kicked her multiple times. One of the assailants allegedly hit her over the head, causing her to fall to the ground. The suspects took the senior’s purse and ran towards Westbrook Mall.

A woman who witnessed the incident called 9-1-1 and followed the suspects in her vehicle from the intersection to the C-train station. A second woman was seen running after the assailants and returned a short time later with the senior’s purse. Although the purse was returned, money was missing. The woman who returned the purse left before officers arrived to speak with her and we are asking that she come forward to help further the investigation.

Additionally, we are releasing CCTV images of the suspects and are asking for assistance in identifying them. One suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 30s, approximately 5’11” tall. He was wearing a dark red jacket, black hoodie, blue jeans and sunglasses. The female suspect is described as wearing a blue and grey jacket with white highlights and dark jeans.

Anyone with information about the identity of the witness or the suspects is asked to call the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
