General Election Advance Vote begins today

Today is the first day voters can cast their ballot in the 2025 General Election. The Advance Vote period is from Oct. 6 to 11, 2025 and this year, you can vote at any Advance Vote station.

Voters can use the Where Do I Vote tool or the Voter Guide to find the location nearest to them. Separate school voters who live outside Calgary can also use this tool to find Advance Vote or Election Day stations.

There are 42 Advance Vote opportunities, open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., unless otherwise specified. During the Advance Vote period, voting opportunities will be available at hospitals, shelters, post-secondary institutions, care facilities, the Vote Bus, CNIB office, Deaf and Hear Alberta office, YW Calgary and at voting stations outside of Calgary for the separate trustee election, as applicable (see details in the Voter Guide).

All regular Advance Vote locations are accessible either by Calgary Transit, cycling, driving, or walking. Twenty-one of 41 regular Advance Vote stations are within one kilometer of an LRT/BRT/Max public transit stop. The Vote Bus will be travelling to 11 different locations in Calgary during the Advance Vote and anyone can cast their ballot on the bus.

Ballots cast during the Advance Vote period as well as special (mail-in) ballots will be counted by hand at the counting centre after 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Oct. 20, 2025. Ballot counting is expected to take two days due to the volume of votes cast and the legislated requirement to count ballots by hand. Official election results will be available at 12 p.m. (noon) on Oct. 24, 2025.

·       Make sure you have one of the acceptable forms of ID.

·       Look up your ward, get informed about your candidates and find all the voting opportunities available to you in the Where Do I Vote tool.

·       Get out and VOTE!
