Four men charged in armed robbery

We have charged four men for their involvement in a planned and violent robbery that occurred at a pub in southeast Calgary earlier this year.

On Monday, May 11, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m., two males smashed the window of a Toyota Tacoma that was parked in a parking lot at Nose Hill Park, located in the 6400 block of 14 Street N.W., and stole a purse containing identification, credit cards and a key for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The suspects fled in a stolen red Ford F150.

Approximately five hours later, at 11:30 p.m., the Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from outside the car prowling victim’s residence in Mayland Heights. CCTV from the area showed the stolen Ford F150 leaving the scene in tandem with the Jeep.

Approximately one hour later, at 12:30 a.m., on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, three suspects drove the stolen Jeep to Chicago’s Pub, located in the 4200 block of 17 Avenue S.E. Two of the suspects, including one who was armed with a shotgun, entered the pub and demanded cash. During the robbery, a patron of the pub was struck in the face with the shotgun, causing serious injuries. The suspects fled in the stolen Jeep, which was later located in the alley behind 1336 40 Street S.E., where it had been set on fire.

Two days later, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, the stolen F150 was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Edmonton and abandoned. The stolen F150 was also linked to a second car prowling that occurred earlier on Monday, May 11, 2026.

Through CCTV collection from the multiple scenes and additional investigative inquiries, officers identified three suspects.

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, with the assistance of the Drayton Valley RCMP, three search warrants were executed simultaneously on a residence located in the 6200 block of Penedo Way S.E., in Calgary, and two residences in Drayton Valley, Alta. During the execution of the search warrants a fourth suspect was also identified.

Bradley Michal ALMAS, 27, of Edmonton, and Sean PORTER, 44, of Drayton Valley, are charged with one count each of disguise with intent, robbery with a firearm and arson. They will next appear in court on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Aaron Michael STELCER, 46, of Calgary, is charged with one count each of robbery with a firearm and arson. STELCER will next appear in court on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Ethan Kyle Lance BYRON, 20, of Calgary, is charged with one count of robbery with a firearm. BYRON will next appear in court on Monday, July 13, 2026.

Additional charges are pending.
