Federal political parties answers now posted on YYC Matters

Calgary - Today, The City of Calgary updated yycmatters.ca with the answers asked to the major federal political parties about issues that affect Calgary’s future.

On Sept. 12, the survey was sent to the five parties with candidates in Calgary and a seat in the 42nd Canadian Parliament: Conservative Party, Green Party, Liberal Party, NDP, and the People’s Party of Canada.  We asked about strategies for economic recovery, supporting our responsible energy industry, investing in public infrastructure, immigration, public transit funding, and much more. Responses were received from all five parties and have now been posted on yycmatters.ca.

“Cities are key to our country’s future prosperity,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. “We do this survey so Calgarians can see the parties’ Calgary strategy before they head to the polls. They’re now on the record for everyone to see the commitments to get Calgary back to being Canada’s economic engine.”

The City launched yycmatters.ca to inform Calgarians about key priorities for our city and solicit answers from federal election parties related to honouring commitments and supporting Calgarians through economic recovery. Calgarians can assess for themselves how those looking to govern the country would act on Calgary-specific issues and it gives federal parties the opportunity to clearly define how they plan to support Calgary.
