Fatality House Fire in Harvest Hills

At approximately 0120 am on September 10, 2022 the Calgary Fire Department responded to Harvest Oak Close in the northeast community of Harvest Hills for a structure fire.  On arrival, crews saw smoke coming from the attached garage area on the first floor of a multi-family occupancy.  Fire fighters were met by people outside who directed them into the dwelling.

Once entry was made into the structure crews quickly located the fire in an attached garage and were able to contain the fire to that area.  On initial search, firefighters located two adults and removed them to the outside.  Both adults were immediately determined to be deceased.  One adult and two children also live in the residence and were able to escape uninjured.  Damage from the fire was confined to the garage with minor smoke damage in the rest of the occupancy.  Adjacent units were immediately evacuated as a precaution, with residents quickly reoccupying their homes.

The Fire Investigator and Calgary Police Service Arson investigators are on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.  The street area of Harvest Oak Close within the complex is closed to traffic during the investigation.  Investigators, the Medical Examiner and fire crews will remain onscene through the night.
