Fatal shooting victim identified

Homicide Unit investigators are identifying the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend.

Just before 10 p.m., on Saturday, March 27, 2021, we were called to the 5200 block of Memorial Drive S.E., for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, a man in his 30s was found on the street in medical distress. Despite the efforts of first responders, he died at the scene.

Following the completion of an autopsy conducted by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the victim has been identified as Jesse Shaye Troy GEORGE, 30, of Calgary.

At this time, it is believed that the shooting was targeted, and the offender was known to the victim. Police are actively investigating this homicide and asking for anyone with information to come forward.

“This shooting happened on a very busy road in our city and it is likely that someone has information that could help solve this case” says Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “People may have unknowingly witnessed something or may even have dashcam footage that could be useful to investigators.”
