Fatal shooting on 28 Street S.E.

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has been called out to investigate what is believed to be a targetted shooting outside a store in southeast Calgary that left one man dead.

Around 7:10 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, police were called to the 200 block of 28 Street S.E., for reports that a man was found seriously injured. The man was declared deceased on scene. We have no reports of anyone else being injured in the incident.

Investigators from the Homicide Unit, patrol officers from across the city, the Canine Unit and several other resources are currently working to gather as much information as possible to lead to a possible suspect description.

“Anyone with information about tonight’s incident is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers. The first hours of any homicide investigation are critical for gathering as much information as we can to lead to a swift apprehension of the person, or persons, responsible,” says Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.

No further information will be shared about the victim until the next of kin notifications can be properly completed, along with the autopsy which is expected to be scheduled in the coming days.
