Fatal pedestrian collision with train

We continue to investigate a fatal collision between a Canadian Pacific/Kansas City train and a pedestrian early this morning.

Around 1 a.m., on Monday, April 7, 2025, police were called to the 100 block of 10 Avenue S.E., to investigate the collision. It’s believed that a westbound train, comprised of 160 cars, was travelling at a low rate of speed through an enclosed building between First Street S.E. and First Street S.W. As the train approached the Centre Street area, the train struck a pedestrian who is believed to have been lying across the rail line.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, sadly suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. Foul play is not believed to be a factor, however, investigators are still looking into the unfortunate circumstances that resulted in the man being on the rail lines. The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who was in the area at the time who may have information about this incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
