Fatal pedestrian collision in northwest Calgary

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Unit continues to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision in northwest Calgary.

At approximately 11:41 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, police were called to the intersection of John Laurie Boulevard and Hawkwood Drive N.W., for reports of a fatal pedestrian collision.

At this time, it is believed a Toyota 4 Runner was southbound on Hawkwood Drive and turned left onto eastbound John Laurie Blvd., where the vehicle came in contact with two pedestrians who were crossing John Laurie Blvd.

The female pedestrian, 67, was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS and the male pedestrian, 64, was transported to Foothills Medical Centre in life-threatening condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The female driver of the Toyota 4 Runner was uninjured.

Alcohol, drugs and speed are not considered factors in the collision. This is an ongoing investigation.
