Fatal pedestrian collision - Acadia Drive S.E. and 97 Avenue S.E.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section continues to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision that took place yesterday, Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

At approximately 11 a.m., a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by a 46-year-old man, was traveling north on Acadia Drive S.E. towards a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of 97 Avenue S.E.

Two pedestrians, an 83-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman, entered the southern marked crosswalk of the intersection when they were struck by the Dodge Ram.

The 83-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries. The 21-year-old was taken to hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition. The driver was not injured.

Alcohol and drugs are not factors in the collision.

Speed is being investigated as a factor in the collision.
