Fatal collision on Stoney Trail at 114 Ave. S.E.

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday morning.

At approximately 11 a.m., on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, emergency crews were called to Stoney Trail, about 500 metres south of the exit to 114 Avenue S.E.

It’s believed a blue Ford F-150 that was northbound on Stoney Trail left the roadway and struck the large concrete base of an overhead road sign.

The 25-year-old driver and lone occupant of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Excessive speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision, however, alcohol and drugs are being investigated as possible factors.

Anyone who was a witness to the collision or may have seen the blue F-150 northbound on Stoney Trail around the time of the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Section office at 403-428-4000.
