Fatal collision - Renfrew Drive and Russet Road N.E.

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a fatal single vehicle collision that took place this morning.

At 12:45 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, a 32-year-old man was driving a 2017 BMW 320i at a high rate of speed, eastbound on Renfrew Dr. and Russet Rd. N.E. The car had three passengers; a 21-year-old woman, a 20-year-old woman, and a 32-year-old man.

The BMW lost control and began to rotate, leaving the road and going through a chain link fence. It continued down a grass slope and eventually came to rest on 16 Ave. N.E.

The 32-year-old passenger of the car suffered fatal injuries.

The driver received minor injuries and the two other passenger received no injuries.

Speed, alcohol and drugs are being considered as factors.
