Fatal assault deemed homicide

The victim of a fatal assault has been identified following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., on Sunday, May 15, 2016, police were called to a disturbance in the 5500 block of Maddock Drive N.E. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in his 20s who had been seriously assaulted. The victim was transported to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Tyler SANDERSON, 24, of Calgary. Cause of death will not be released at this time, however, this has been declared Calgary’s seventh homicide of 2016.

Investigators do not believe this to be a random incident and are currently working to locate people of interest in this case. No further details will be released at this time as it may hamper the ongoing investigation.
