Family of Abbeydale homicide victim releases statement
Homicide investigators and the family of Carter SPIVAK-VILLENEUVE are pleading for information following his death last week.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, we were called to the 300 block of Abergale Drive N.E., for reports of a person in medical distress. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male, who was later identified as 16-year-old Carter SPIVAK-VILLENEUVE.
Investigators have been working diligently to collect CCTV footage and other evidence related to Carter’s death. However, we are still trying to reach several residents in the area who may have been away over the long weekend. To help move the investigation forward as quickly as possible, we urge anyone in the neighbourhood who has CCTV footage and has not yet spoken with police to contact us immediately.
Specifically, we are looking for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the 300 block of Abergale Drive N.E., on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, between midnight and 1:30 a.m., to contact police.
As well, anyone with information about Carter, his associates or any discussion about Carter’s death, whether on Snapchat, TikTok or other platforms, is asked to provide this information to police.
“Carter’s death has sent ripples throughout our community, and we are committed to doing everything we can to hold whomever is responsible accountable. We know there are people out there who have information. Whether it’s something they saw, heard, or came across online, we’re urging them to come forward. We understand conversations may be happening on social media that we’re not yet aware of, and we’re asking those with information to share it with the police. Every detail matters, and with the public’s help, we can give Carter’s family the answers they deserve.”
We are absolutely devastated by the loss of our son Carter. It has left an empty void in many hearts for family and friends. Carter was very caring, giving and loyal. He had a smile that would light up any dark room. He had ambitions that will never come to fruition because his life was cut so short.
We would like to thank all the family and friends for the amount of support they’ve shown us in these trying times.
