Emergency Preparedness Week is May 5 – 11 and there’s no better time to get prepared!
Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week is May 5 – 11, 2024. This is an annual event that takes place across Canada every May to encourage people to prepare for the range of emergencies that could happen in their communities.
“Emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere,” says Sue Henry, Chief of the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA). “While we can’t always prevent emergencies, we can take steps to prepare for them.”
The City is recognizing Emergency Preparedness Week with several activities and resources to help Calgarians get prepared, including:

Emergency Action Plan
Knowing what to do before, during and after a disaster strikes can go a long way in helping you, your family and your community stay safe.
Calgarians are encouraged to download the fillable Emergency Action Plan and personalize it with information about what to do and who to contact during an emergency. The action plan is available in multiple languages.
Prepare your home video series
The Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) has created a video series, available in multiple languages, with tips to help Calgarians prepare and protect their homes before, during, and after an emergency.
Resources for kids
Kids ages 7-12 can participate in Ready Squad, a free online program to learn about emergency preparedness.
