Eight people arrested at problem residence

Following a number of complaints from the community about disturbing activity occurring at a residence in Windsor Park, police executed a search warrant at the home and arrested eight people, while seizing drugs and weapons.

The investigation began in December 2024 following tips from the public that drug activity was occurring at a home in the 500 block of 52 Avenue S.W. In late February, community members approached a Calgary Police Service officer who was in the area attending to another call for service and expressed their ongoing concerns about the impact the tenants and visitors of this problem home were having on the community.

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, a search warrant was executed at the home. Eleven people were removed from the home during the search warrant. Seven were arrested on a variety of outstanding Criminal Code and bylaw warrants. Additionally, Brendan BEAR, 33, has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and five counts of failure to comply with a release order.

·       41 grams of methamphetamine

·       29.4 grams of fentanyl

·       64 pills of gabapentin

·       Four digital scales

·       Brass knuckles

·       Spring-loaded baton

·       Two imitation handguns

·       Bear spray

·       Several different kinds of ammunition

·       10 knives of a variety of sizes, shapes and purposes

“This home, used as a hub for criminal activity, was near a public park and an elementary school and the activity that was occurring at this home left neighbours and families feeling extremely unsafe in their own community. We have zero tolerance for this kind of negatively impacting social disorder behaviour and drug trafficking in our communities. We will continue to work with communities and our partners to disrupt, disable and dismantle criminals who are intent on profiting from exploiting vulnerable Calgarians.  Everyone deserves to feel safe within their own homes and neighbourhoods,” says District 1 Inspector Jason Bobrowich.
