Drugs seized from problem residence; man charged

The community identified this residence and the behaviour that was being conducted there as a blight on their neighbourhood and did something about it. This is a great example of how police and communities can work together to ensure our neighbourhoods remain healthy.

A dozen tips from the public led investigators to a residence in Erlton where more than $20,000 worth of illicit drugs were seized and one person was arrested.

The investigation began in the summer of 2023, identifying a residence in the 2600 block of Erlton Street S.W., where activity consistent with drug trafficking was taking place. On Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, a search warrant was executed on the residence and the following items were seized:

·       41 grams of crack cocaine

·       40 grams of cocaine

·       116 grams of methamphetamine

·       72 Percocet pills

·       5 grams of an unknown powder

·       33 assorted pills of unknown origin

·       Equipment used in the production of crack cocaine

·       $1,305 cash

Nelson MEDEIROS, 47, has been charged with one count of proceeds of crime, three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of production for the purpose of trafficking. He will next appear in court on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023.
