Drug, weapon and theft charges laid

A Calgary man has been arrested and charged with several gun, drug and theft offences.

On October 30, our Auto Theft Team located a stolen Subaru Forester in a parking lot on the 400 block of Radcliffe Crescent SE.

Officers monitored the vehicle and later arrested a man when he returned to it. A search of the vehicle subsequently found a loaded handgun inside.

 As part of the investigation, officers also executed a search warrant at a garage at a residence in the 2400 block of 39 Street NE.

In total, officers seized:

            ·         Two handguns, including one that was loaded

            ·         640 bullets

            ·         2 sets of body armour

            ·         39 stolen licence plates

            ·         Fentanyl

Rory LIBBRECHT, 27, of Calgary, is now facing the following 75 charges:

·         One count of theft of a motor vehicle

·         One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000

·         39 counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 

·         One count of driving while suspended

·         One count of possession of break and enter tools

·         One count of possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition

·         One count of unsafe storage of a firearm

·         One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle

·         One count of possession firearm with an altered serial number

·         12 counts of breach of a firearms prohibition order

·         Ten counts of breach of probation

·         One count of possession of a prohibited firearm

·         One count of possession of a controlled substance

·         One count of possession of a prohibited device (high-capacity magazine)

·         Two counts of possession of body armour

              ·         One count of operating a motor vehicle without insurance

Rory LIBBRECHT appeared in court on November 17, 2025.

“While this started as an investigation into a stolen vehicle, it quickly led to the discovery of much more criminal activity,” says Sgt. Matt Hill with the CPS Auto Theft Team. “Thanks to the diligence of our officers, we were able to get more drugs, guns and bullets off the streets of Calgary.”
