Driver identity sought in pedestrian hit-and-run collision

Investigators are turning to the public for assistance in identifying and locating a driver and vehicle that were involved in a hit-and-run collision that resulted in serious injuries to a pedestrian.

Shortly after 6 p.m., on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, a pedestrian was crossing in a sidewalk from the west side of Centre Street S., towards the east side on Eighth Avenue S.E., when a vehicle travelling northbound on Centre Street struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle before falling to the roadway. The vehicle then fled, continuing northbound on Centre Street.

Officers were in the area at the time of the collision and were able to provide immediate aide to the victim, who was transported to hospital in serious condition.

The suspect vehicle was captured on the officer’s Body Worn Camera and is described as a silver, four-door car, with previous damage to the left rear fender. Following the collision, the car sustained damage to the hood area. Multiple attempts to locate the vehicle have been unsuccessful and a photo of the vehicle captured on the officer’s BWC is now being released in the interest of generating information from the public.

Anyone who may have information about the identity or location of the vehicle and/or driver, is asked to call police on the non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.  Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
