Double fatal collision - Metis Trail N.E.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating a double fatal collision that occurred just after midnight, Saturday, May 18, 2019.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., a 2009 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 42-year-old male was making a turn from southbound Metis Trail N.E. onto eastbound 128 Avenue N.E.

A black 2012 Hyundai, driven by a 21-year-old male, travelling northbound along Metis Trail N.E., struck the Toyota.

Two female passengers of the Toyota, a 65-year-old and a 31-year-old, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota along with a 70-year-old male passenger who was in life-threatening condition, were both taken to hospital.

The driver of the Hyundai had no injuries.

Speed and alcohol are both considered factors in this collision.
