Discover Calgary’s municipal history from the comfort of your home

The City of Calgary Archives preserves our city’s history and makes collective memory available to future generations of Calgarians.

A new Archives Research Portal is helping researchers search the Archives’ records descriptions from the comfort of their home or wherever they have an internet connection.

Providing improved access through the portal and visibility to the Archives treasures is very exciting. The portal allows us to attach digital images to descriptive records, making information more accessible and providing continued opportunities to modernize service delivery,” said Archives Coordinator Susanne Clark.

The portal allows users to identify what is available at the Archives, making visits to view non-digitized records more efficient.  The portal’s cart functionality allows users to create pick lists ahead of time so that records are ready and waiting when visitors arrive.

The Archives will continue to add records of enduring value to the collection, and the new technology means records will be available as soon as they are processed.

Archivists continue to be available to assist users with their research, providing their expertise in locating material relevant to your search.
