Declutter and discover! Join us for the Citywide Treasure Hunt: A fun and free event for all ages
CALGARY, AB – The City of Calgary is excited to announce the return of the Curbside Treasure Hunt. This year, the event will encompass the entire city, urging Calgarians to search their homes for reusable items they no longer need, placing them at the curb for others to take and reuse —think citywide garage sale without the price tags. The event takes place on September 7 and 8, 2024.
The Treasure Hunt encourages Calgarians to explore their neighbourhoods, find unique items and rehome reusable unwanted treasures that would otherwise end up in landfills.
“By participating, Calgarians would contribute meaningfully to minimize waste and reuse items. It’s also a fun community event that benefits everyone, whether you’re decluttering your home or searching for your next great treasure find” says Natalia Gonzalez, Waste Diversion Specialist for The City of Calgary.
How It Works:
- Gather: Identify items in your home that you no longer need but could be valuable to someone else.
- Label: Mark these items with a “free” label.
- Place: Set the items out at the curb on September 7 and 8.
- Discover: Residents and treasure hunters can explore different neighborhoods, picking up items they find interesting or useful.
- Clean up: Remove left over items from the curbside following the event. Visit calgary.ca/whatgoeswhere to find out where to recycle, donate or dispose of any remaining items.
Calgarians are invited to join us in the Curbside Treasure Hunt on September 7 and 8 for a fun opportunity to discover unique items.
