Crescent Heights shooting incident resolved
A shooting incident that occurred this afternoon in the northwest community of Crescent Heights has been resolved and a shelter-in-place order has been lifted.
Earlier today, Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, in the Crescent Heights area, police attempted to apprehend an individual wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. At approximately 3:40 p.m., the suspect exited a vehicle in the 500 block of Crescent Heights Road N.W., and shot at police before entering a nearby residence with another individual.
Police contained the residence and issued a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents, which remained in place for several hours. The order has since been lifted, and officers have confirmed the safety of residents in the area.
At approximately 5 p.m., the second individual surrendered to police and was taken into custody. At about 7:10 p.m., police confirmed the suspect was deceased inside the residence. No other injuries were reported.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team was engaged to review the file. At this time, the Calgary Police Service will retain oversight of the investigation.
