CPA Holiday Parking Elves are giving away free parking to support #BuyLocalYYC

The Calgary Parking Authority Holiday Parking Elves are giving away the gift of free parking for the ninth year in a row. This is the perfect time to get your holiday shopping done and support local businesses.

The fun and friendly volunteer Holiday Parking Elves are hitting the pavement on December 7 and December 14 in Kensington, 4th Street, Inglewood, and 17th Ave to kick start some holiday cheer with the gift of FREE two-hour parking. The Parking Elves will be out between 11 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. starting as many free parking sessions as possible.

Calgary Parking Authority invites people to join in on the holiday festivities and check out all the unique local shopping and dining options in Calgary. CPA General Manager Glen Furtado says, “CPA is proud to bring back the Holiday Parking Elves, we love supporting Calgary’s local businesses and communities by brightening shoppers’ days with a free parking session.”

To support local businesses and economic recovery as part of Calgary's Comeback, The City of Calgary launched #BuyLocalYYC to remind Calgarians to shop and spend locally and show their Calgary roots with pride.

The #BuyLocalYYC campaign is aimed at reminding Calgarians they have a huge impact when they support local businesses and entrepreneurs. In the lead up to the holiday shopping season and all year round, Calgarians can help local businesses thrive and grow by spending their money here in the city.

Our ask of Calgarians is to share and support their favourite Calgary businesses by using #BuyLocalYYC and spreading the word to their fellow Calgarians.

“Buying local is one way everyone can help Calgary businesses during these tough economic times,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. “The Holiday Parking Elves will be handing out free parking to make buying local even easier this shopping season. Head to one of Calgary’s great shopping and eating districts, look for a Holiday Parking Elf and share your shopping experience online using #BuyLocalYYC.”

To qualify for the two-hours of free parking, parkers should look for a Holiday Parking Elf and ask for a free parking session PRIOR to making a parking payment.
