Collision sends one man to hospital with life-threatening injuries
Our Traffic Section has concluded its investigation into a collision in the city’s northwest yesterday that sent one man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, we responded to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian in the 800 block of Edgemont Road N.W.
It is believed that just before the collision, a man in his 90s was assisting a woman in her 90s out of an SUV in a residential garage. As the man was standing next to the side of the vehicle, it rolled backwards, out of the garage and down the driveway.
The man held onto the vehicle to stop it but was dragged partially down the driveway and eventually lost his grip on the vehicle. The vehicle rolled across the street and struck a neighbouring house.
The man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. There were no injuries to the woman or to the occupants of the house. The house sustained minor exterior damage.
