Collision in southeast Calgary

The Calgary Police Service is currently responding to an injury collision that occurred in southeast Calgary and citizens should expect significant delays in the area.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., today, Thursday, July 12, 2018, a black truck which was travelling eastbound on 36 Avenue S.E., collided with a northbound CTrain. The vehicle then continued on 36 Avenue S.E., and struck a nearby business. One man has been taken to hospital in stable condition.

Investigators from the CPS Traffic Section are on scene and are currently investigating the circumstances of the collision.

The intersection of 36 Avenue and Burnsland Road S.E. is expected to be closed until the investigation is complete. CTrain traffic has also been shutdown in both directions until the scene can be cleared. Citizens are asked to take an alternative route if possible.
