Civic Services Holiday Hours: Thanksgiving weekend 2019

We're adjusting our hours of operation for Thanksgiving on Monday, Oct. 14, 2019.

Transit and Parking

Calgary Transit
 Calgary Transit will adjust service for the Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday, Oct. 12 through Monday, Oct. 14. They will be running Sunday level of service on Monday, Oct. 14 along with normal weekend service. On Saturday, Oct. 12 the Blue Line will be closed between 69 Street and Sirocco Stations. Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between the closed stations, with buses running every ten minutes. Parking
On-street parking is free on Oct. 14 and holiday rates will be in effect at select Calgary Parking Authority surface lots and parkades. Regular rates will be in effect at the Calgary Zoo, TELUS Spark and Heritage Park. Holiday rates are listed on the parking locations map or at calgaryparking.com.

Recreation Services

Free public skating. Strap on skates and enjoy a free skate from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14 at:

  • Ernie Starr Arena (4808 14 Avenue S.E.)
  • Frank McCool Arena (1900 Lake Bonavista Drive S.E.)
  • Murray Copot Arena (6727 Centre Street N.W.)
  • Optimist and George Blunden Arenas (5020 26 Avenue S.W.)
  • Rose Kohn and Jimmy Condon Arenas (502 Heritage Drive S.W.)
  • Shouldice Arena (1515 Home Road N.W.)
  • Stu Hendry and Henry Viney Arenas (814 13 Avenue N.E.)
  • Stu Peppard Arena (5300 19th Street S.W.)

Golfing activities are available Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13:

  • Kids (6-17 yrs) golf for free with paid adult, from 9:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lakeview and McCall Par 3 golf courses.
  • Enjoy a beer and a bucket of balls for $10, from 10 a.m. to close, at Confederation, McCall and Shaganappi golf courses

The following golf courses are scheduled to be open, weather permitting:

  • Confederation
  • Lakeview
  • Maple Ridge
  • McCall Lake
  • Shaganappi

Southland Leisure Centre and Village Square Leisure Centre are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Southland Leisure Centre’s arena will offer Sticks, Pucks and Rings from noon to 1:30 p.m. and public skating from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Regular admission applies.
  • Village Square Leisure Centre’s arena will offer Sticks, Pucks and Rings from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. and public skating from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Regular admission applies.

All of the Aquatic, Recreation & Fitness Centres are closed on Monday, Oct. 14. They are:

  • Acadia Aquatic & Fitness Centre
  • Beltline Aquatic & Fitness Centre
  • Bob Bahan Aquatic & Fitness Centre
  • Canyon Meadows Aquatic & Fitness Centre
  • Inglewood Aquatic Centre
  • Killarney Aquatic & Recreation Centre
  • Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre

Art Centres: North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres are closed.

Calgary Soccer Centre, Arenas & Athletic Parks are open for advanced bookings only.

Landfill hours

The City’s three sanitary landfill sites, East Calgary, Shepard, and the Spyhill landfill, are open on Thanksgiving Monday. Please check online for hours of operations.

Other City facilities hours and closures 

All City of Calgary administrative buildings, including City Hall, will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14.
